Framer
Framer gives you a brilliant design tool from $15 a month. It doesn’t give you a designer. For $95 a month, I design, write and run your site for you.
Basic plan $15/mo, month to month
Custom redirects and staging need Pro, at $45 a month.
$95/month
$0 to build. No contract. Cancel anytime.
Yes, it’s my comparison, so every Framer fact links to where it comes from. Checked .
Framer’s Basic plan, its cheapest with your own domain, next to my one plan.
| What you’re comparing | | Done for you |
|---|---|---|
Price What the monthly bill says | $15 a month, billed month to month. Pro is $45. | $95 USD a month, billed monthly. One plan. |
Contract How long you’re committed | No minimum term. Plans renew automatically each month or year, and unused time isn’t refunded when you cancel. | No minimum term. Cancel by email, any time, no fee. |
Building the site Pages, layout, photos | You design it on Framer’s canvas, or hire a Framer Expert to do it. YYou | I research your business and build it. No questionnaire. You review before launch. |
Writing the words Headlines, pages, calls to action | You write it. Framer’s AI agent can draft copy, and you decide what stays. YYou | Included. I write the pages, you approve them. |
Changes after launch New photo, new price, new page | You make them in Framer, whenever you like, then publish. YYou | Included. Routine edits have a 72-hour target. You can edit blog posts and FAQs yourself. |
Who you talk to When you need something | Framer’s product experts, in the app or by email. They answer questions but don’t edit your project for you. | Patrick, directly, by phone, text or email. No call center. |
SEO Getting found on Google | Strong tools: sitemaps, canonical URLs and AI SEO audits. You fill them in. Custom redirects need Pro. YYou | On-page SEO is included and done for you. Ongoing local SEO is a separate $995/month service. |
Hosting Keeping the site online | Included, served from 20 locations on Basic, 300+ on Pro. | Included in the monthly price. |
If you leave What you walk away with | No HTML export. The site runs only on Framer, so leaving means a rebuild. | Every file of the website, and help moving it. It’s custom-coded, so later changes need a developer. |
Hiring someone to build it When you’d rather not design it | Pick from Framer’s Experts directory and pay them separately. After the handover, the Framer plan is your bill. | One price covers design, writing, hosting and changes: $95 a month. |
Framer is one of the best design tools around. The real question is who’s going to use it.
Framer is a joy if you like design. On its canvas you fine-tune layouts, type, spacing, color and effects, and every paid plan comes with a CMS and built-in analytics. Its AI agent can turn a prompt into editable pages, sections, copy and visuals.
“AI helps you move faster while you make the final design decisions,” Framer says. Which pages do you need? What should they say? Where does the call button go? Those calls are yours.
If you enjoy making them, Framer is a great pick. If you’d rather hand them to someone, that’s the work my price pays for.
A powerful canvas. You make every decision.
I make the decisions, and you approve them.
A Framer plan is software. If you want the site built for you, Framer runs an Experts directory of vetted designers. Their fees aren’t on Framer’s pricing page, so the design work is a separate quote.
When the site’s done, the expert can hand it over with a project transfer. You become the owner, and the Framer plan becomes your bill.
So you pay the expert, then the plan, and after the handover, changes are yours again unless you keep paying the expert. That can work out well, especially for a design-led brand. Just price all three before you pick.
The expert’s fee, plus the plan, plus changes after handover.
One monthly price. Design, writing and changes included.
Framer Basic gives you 30 pages, 2 CMS collections and 1,000 CMS items, with 30 days of analytics history. Framer says Basic “caters to students, freelancers, and small studios”, while Pro is built for growing teams.
One line in the plan table matters for anyone moving an existing site. Custom site redirects are on Pro, not Basic. They’re how old page addresses keep their Google traffic when they change. Staging and branching are Pro features too.
Pro is $45 a month, billed month to month. That’s still less than my plan in cash, and you still do the work.
$15 to $45 a month, depending on plan.
$95 a month, one plan, no tiers.
Framer can rank. It auto-generates sitemaps and robots.txt, and gives you indexing controls, custom page addresses, canonical URLs and page titles pulled from your CMS. You can even ask an agent to “scan your page, prioritize SEO fixes” and apply the ones you approve.
The tools don’t know your customers, though. Someone has to write titles and pages that match what people in your town search for, and keep doing it for every new page. On my plan, on-page SEO is done for you at launch and on every page after that.
Strong SEO tools. You, or the AI, fill them in.
On-page SEO done for you, on every page.
Framer doesn’t offer HTML export for self-hosting. The site depends on Framer’s hosting to run, so if you need your source code, Framer “may not be the right solution.”
For most owners, that’s fine. Framer runs the hosting, and you never touch a server. It matters on the day you leave, because there’s nothing to take with you, and the site gets rebuilt. Your domain is safe either way: Framer doesn’t sell domains, so yours stays with your registrar.
With me, the website is yours from day one, every file. One honest trade-off: it’s custom-coded, so once you leave, bigger changes need a web developer.
Runs only on Framer. No HTML export.
Every file is yours, from day one.
Framer is cheaper in cash, so here are the real numbers, with your time counted separately.
| Cost | | |
|---|---|---|
Plan Every month | $15 on Basic, $45 on Pro, month to month | $95 a month |
Design, writing and edits The work itself | Your time, or a Framer Expert’s quote | Included |
Domain yourname.com | Free for year one only on a yearly plan, so on monthly billing you pay for it. Or connect one you own. | You keep the domain you have, at whatever you pay for it now |
Business email you@yourname.com | Not part of Framer’s plans. Your email stays with its provider. | Not in the plan. Your current email stays where it is. |
Who does each job, week to week.
| The job | | |
|---|---|---|
Designing the site | On Framer’s canvas, with AI help YYou | I design it, you review it |
Writing the pages | Every headline, or AI drafts you check YYou | I write them, you approve them |
Changes after launch | Edit in Framer, then publish YYou | Text or email me. Blog posts and FAQs you can edit yourself. |
SEO fields and redirects | Page by page, with redirects on Pro YYou | Done for you |
Hiring help | Finding an expert, briefing them, then the handover YYou | One person, start to finish |
Every platform gets complaints, and Framer has plenty of happy users: it scores 4.3 out of 5 on Capterra. On Trustpilot it scores 1.6, and the same four complaints come up again and again. Each one links to where it comes from.
Several reviewers say they were billed after inviting someone to edit a project, with no clear warning when they did it. Others call the per-editor fee a surprise on top of the plan, and one says it came after sharing a project link. Framer’s side: its pricing page says editors are billed per seat, viewers are free, and you’re notified when an editor is added. Its help center says roles that can edit are paid.
“Nowhere during the invitation process was there any clear warning, price display, or confirmation that this would cost $30 per month.”
Before you sign up: Give anyone who only needs to look the free Viewer role, and check your Plans tab after you invite anyone who can edit.
Reviewers say a plan’s AI credits can go in one basic request, that the billing screen keeps asking for more credits, and that extra credits were charged without clear consent. Framer’s side: its help center says credit use depends on how complex a request is. Admins get a warning at 80% of the monthly allowance, and AI features pause at 100% until you buy more or the allowance renews.
“I pay €18 and I only make one request which is basic, and I have no more credits after this request.”
Before you sign up: Check your AI credit usage after your first few requests, and make small text changes by hand, since editing yourself uses no credits.
Complaints describe a chatbot that can’t answer simple questions, then a day’s wait for a person, no reply at all, and weeks of trying to fix a billing problem. It isn’t new: a 2023 Capterra review says support “takes hours to get back to you”. Framer’s side: its support page promises a first reply within 24 hours in the app, or up to 72 hours through the contact page.
“Cannot get ahold of anyone. Has been weeks of attempts for them to fix my billing issues.”
Before you sign up: For a billing problem, email the billing team listed on Framer’s support page instead of using the product chat, and save every reply.
Several reviewers say they found no cancel option in the dashboard, felt the cancel button was hidden, or spent hours because the help article didn’t match the screen. Framer’s side: its help center lists the steps, workspace settings, then Plans, then Cancel Plan next to each site. Editor seats end only when every site plan in the workspace is canceled.
“I’ve been trying to cancel my subscription with Framer for several hours now.”
Before you sign up: Before you pay, find the Cancel Plan option under Plans in your workspace settings, and note your renewal date.
Easy communication. Beautiful website designed. Patrick gives practical advice about how to design features on the website based on your needs.
Angela Liu Co-Founder of UTalkCon · Google review The goal: nobody who finds you today hits a dead end tomorrow. Here’s the order I do it in.
Before touching anything, I look at which pages bring in your visitors and leads. With your Search Console access, I protect those first. Framer’s own analytics keeps only 30 days of history on Basic, so note your top pages early.
Framer doesn’t sell domains, so yours is already at a registrar. If you claimed the free domain on a yearly plan, it’s managed through Hover. Either way, we only change where it points.
Pointing your domain at the new site only changes the website’s records. I copy every DNS record before anything changes, so mail keeps arriving.
There’s no HTML export, so I rebuild the design and move your text, images and blog posts over. Past form entries are wherever your forms sent them: your inbox, a Google Sheet or a webhook.
Framer uses clean custom page addresses, so most pages can keep the exact same one. Any that change get a permanent (301) redirect, and your business name, address and phone stay exactly the same.
Contact forms are rebuilt and tested end to end. A Calendly booking can come along, or move to the plan’s built-in calendar booking.
You review the new site before it goes live. Once forms, email and redirects check out, you cancel the site plan. It keeps running to the end of the billing cycle, so on yearly billing, plan the launch before renewal.
No build fee, no contract, no upsells. Here’s every feature the monthly price covers.
One plan, because you should not have to study a comparison table to buy a website. Every feature below is included from day one.
$95/month
$0 to build. No contract. Cancel anytime.
Your website is yours from day one.
Imagine what you could accomplish with more than just a Home, About and Contact page.
Hand-coded and served from data centers around the world, not a page builder dragging its own weight around. Fast on any phone, on any connection.
No junky stock photos or cookie cutter icons here.
Great copywriting is the difference between a website that sells and one that doesn't.
Essentially this means making it as easy as possible for Google and AI to find you.
Forms that actually convert visitors into leads.
Plain, simple, straightforward, valuable analytics anyone can read.
Local SEO requires hyper-local intent targeting. Almost every service-based business needs this!
Blogs are awesome if they are used authentically. The age of purely info-based content is over.
We can integrate your social media content directly into your website. Strategically, of course. We don't want visitors getting distracted!
Automatically add new reviews from review platforms (Google, Yelp, etc) directly into your website.
Let visitors book meetings, sessions and appointments directly through your site.
Email newsletters help turn your visitors into subscribers.
Your Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions are generated by a specialist legal-policy service and update automatically as privacy laws change. Included, with nothing for you to maintain.
We connect your forms to the CRM you already use: HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho and most other software that connects with outside apps. A custom system gets its own scope.
Automations that send each new lead to the right person, log it in your spreadsheets and handle the follow-up.
Not all hosting is created equal. If you want the Taco Bell of web hosting, Bluehost is waiting for you.
Changes to hours, photos, text and services are included. Routine edits have a 72-hour target; larger requests get an agreed scope and completion date.
No call centers, no offshoring, just your friendly neighborhood Patrick. Based in North America, native English speaker, and fluent in Spanish if that is easier for you.
No. Framer doesn’t offer HTML export or self-hosting. Moving means rebuilding the site. I reuse your text and images, and keep your page addresses wherever I can.
Yes, the tools are good: sitemaps, indexing controls, custom page addresses, canonical URLs and AI SEO audits. What counts is filling them in well on every page. On my plan, that’s done for you.
If you want a design-led site and plan to stay in Framer, it’s a good option. Framer’s Experts directory lists vetted designers. Budget for their fee, the Framer plan, which becomes your bill after handover, and whoever makes changes after that.
It can draft a lot. Framer’s AI agent creates editable pages, sections, copy and visuals from a prompt, using monthly credits. You still review it, decide and publish. My plan works the other way around: I do the work, and you approve it.
Nobody can promise rankings won’t move at all. What protects them: pages keep their addresses or get a permanent (301) redirect, your business name, address and phone stay identical, and I submit the new sitemap and watch Search Console after launch.
The simple things, yes. You can edit blog posts and FAQs yourself. New pages, layout and design changes, you send to me by text or email, and they’re included.
In cash, yes. Framer Basic is $15 a month, and Pro is $45. The difference pays for someone else doing the design, writing, SEO and changes. If you enjoy doing those yourself, Framer is the better deal.
