What’s different

The differences that matter

Wix is a capable builder. The real question is who does the building, and who keeps it running after launch.

Wix costs less in cash. You pay in time.

Wix Core runs about $36 a month. My plan is $95 a month. If you only count cash, Wix wins, and it isn’t close.

What the Wix price doesn’t include is anyone doing the work. You pick the layout, check every word, fill in the SEO settings and keep it all current. Some owners enjoy that. If you’d rather spend those hours on your business, that’s what my price pays for.

About $36 a month, and you do the work.

$95 a month, and I do the work.

AI gets you a first draft fast. It doesn’t run the site.

Wix’s AI website builder turns a description of your business into a draft site, with tailored copy and business tools already wired in. Aria, its built-in AI agent, helps you edit it. It’s free to try, and it’s a real head start.

What it doesn’t change is who’s in charge. After the draft, you fine-tune every detail, launch the site and use Wix’s marketing tools to get found. After launch, every new photo, price and page is yours to make.

On my plan, I research your business and write the pages, you approve them, and later changes are a text or email away.

An AI draft in minutes, then you run it.

I build and write it, you approve it.

Wix can rank. Someone still has to do the SEO.

Wix’s SEO tools are good. You get an editable robots.txt, structured data, custom meta and canonical tags, bulk 301 redirects, up to 500 at once, and sitemaps that update on their own. Titles and descriptions are generated automatically, and you can rewrite them.

The tools don’t decide what each page should target, write titles people want to click, or build a page for every town you serve. On Wix that part is yours. On my plan, on-page SEO is done for you at launch and on every new page after that. Ongoing local SEO is a separate $995/month service.

Good SEO tools, and you decide what goes in them.

On-page SEO done for you, on every page.

A Wix site stays on Wix

Your Wix site has to be hosted on Wix’s servers, because it runs on Wix’s own technology. The content you build belongs to you, but that isn’t the same as a site you can pick up and move.

Blog posts can’t be exported. Form entries and contacts export to spreadsheets, and your domain can move away from Wix. The pages themselves get rebuilt, wherever you go next.

With me, you get every file of the website if you leave. One honest trade-off: it’s custom-coded, so later changes need a web developer.

Your content is yours. The site can’t leave Wix.

Every file is yours, from day one.

Bookings, payments and stores

Core includes scheduling, online payments and basic eCommerce. Light doesn’t, and clients can’t book until your site is on a plan that supports Wix Bookings. That’s why Core is the fair comparison here.

My plan includes online calendar bookings and custom lead forms, set up for you. If you sell products, Wix makes it cheap to start. I build online stores too, custom to your products, but they’re quoted separately, not part of the $95 plan.

Bookings and payments from Core up, set up by you.

Leads and bookings built in. Stores quoted separately.

  • If you enjoy building your own site, the Wix column isn’t a cost, it’s the fun part. That’s a fine reason to choose Wix.
Complaints

What Wix customers complain about

Every platform gets complaints, and plenty of owners are happy on Wix. These four themes come up again and again in public reviews, each linked to where it comes from, with Wix’s side where it has one.

Who it’s for

Who should choose which

Choose Wix if

  • You enjoy building and tweaking your own site, and like making changes the minute you think of them.
  • Your budget is tight. Core runs about $36 a month, and Light is less if you don’t need bookings.
  • You want something online today. The AI builder gives you a draft from one prompt, free to try.
  • You’d like a pro to set up Wix, then run it yourself. Wix has a marketplace for hiring one.

Choose RapidWebLaunch if

  • You’d rather hand the website off completely, including the writing.
  • You don’t want to learn an editor, SEO settings or redirects.
  • You want your site’s files to be yours, not tied to one platform.
  • You want one person to text when something needs changing.

Neither of us may be the right fit if

  • Your Wix site already brings in the work you need and you like running it. Keep it, and put some time into its SEO settings instead of starting over.

A website for an owner who’d never built one

Working with Patrick @ RapidWebLaunch was great from the first consultation call all the way to web launch. He talked me (someone who knows nothing about web design) through the whole process.

Switching

How switching from Wix works

The goal: nobody who finds you today hits a dead end tomorrow. Here’s the order I do it in.

  1. Find out what’s working

Before touching anything, I look at which pages bring in your visitors and leads. With your Search Console and Google Analytics access, I protect those first.

  2. Save everything Wix will give you

Export your form submissions and contacts to spreadsheets. Blog posts don’t export, so I copy them over by hand, along with your pages and photos.

  3. Sort out the domain

A domain registered somewhere else just gets pointed at the new site. If you bought it from Wix, you can transfer it away, though not within 60 days of buying it.

  4. Protect your email

Business email depends on DNS records. After a domain transfer, the MX records have to be added again, so I copy every record before anything changes and mail keeps arriving.

  5. Redirect every old page

Each old address, including blog posts under /post/, gets a permanent (301) redirect to its new page, and your business name, address and phone stay exactly the same.

  6. Rebuild forms and bookings, then test them

Contact forms are rebuilt and tested end to end, and bookings move to the plan’s built-in calendar booking. A store gets its own quote.

  7. Review, launch, then cancel Wix

You review the new site before it goes live. Once the forms, email and redirects check out, you cancel. The Wix site then drops to a free wixsite.com address with Wix ads, and the domain and email need their own auto-renew turned off once they’ve moved.

FAQs

Questions about switching from Wix

Can I export my Wix site and host it somewhere else?

No. A Wix site has to be hosted on Wix’s servers, because it runs on Wix’s own technology. Your content is yours, so I reuse your text and photos, rebuild the site and redirect every old page.

Is Wix bad for SEO?

No. Wix has real SEO tools: custom meta tags, structured data, bulk redirects and automatic sitemaps. What decides your rankings is what goes into those tools and pages, and on Wix that’s your job.

Can’t I just let Wix’s AI build my site?

You can, and for some owners that’s the right call. Wix’s AI builder drafts a site from a description, and Aria helps you edit it. You’re still the one who checks every word, publishes it and keeps it current.

Will I lose my Google rankings if I leave Wix?

Nobody can promise rankings won’t move at all. What protects them: every old page gets a permanent (301) redirect, your business name, address and phone stay identical, and I submit the new sitemap and watch Search Console after launch.

What happens to my Wix site when I cancel?

The plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for. After that, the site goes back to a free wixsite.com address with Wix ads. A domain or email bought through Wix renews separately, so move those first.

Can I still edit the site myself?

The simple things, yes. You can edit blog posts and FAQs yourself. New pages, layout and design changes, you send to me by text or email, and they’re included.

Isn’t $95 a month a lot more than Wix?

In cash, yes. Wix Core runs about $36 a month. The difference pays for someone else doing the design, writing, SEO and changes. If you enjoy doing those yourself, Wix is the better deal.
