Plumber website design that gets you emergency calls 24/7

When a pipe bursts at 3 AM, people are panic-scrolling Google for emergency plumbers. If your mobile site takes forever to load or buries your phone number, they're calling the next plumber whose number they can actually find.

Keys to Success

What your plumber website needs

Your plumbing website needs to capture emergency calls at 3 AM and routine service requests during business hours. Here are the 6 essential features that make you the first plumber customers call:

24/7 emergency call button

Make your emergency number massive and clickable on mobile for burst pipes, leaks, and urgent issues.

Service area coverage map

Show exactly which cities and neighborhoods you serve so customers know if you're available now.

Residential and commercial services

Separate home plumbing from commercial work with specific examples like water heaters or drain cleaning.

Online scheduling for non-emergencies

Let customers book routine services like inspections, installations, and maintenance at their convenience.

Flat-rate pricing guide

Display upfront costs for common jobs like toilet repairs, faucet installs, or water heater replacements.

Plumber licensing and insurance

Build trust by displaying your license numbers, bonding, and insurance coverage prominently.

Original 2026 data

The state of plumber websites in 2026

I sampled 2,293 plumbing companies across 24 cities, then audited the 1,653 websites among them. Here is where the score comes from, what those sites run on, and where the points are going.

74/100

Grade C, tied 10th of 47 industries I audited

Mobile speed

Where the points went

The score is ten weighted checks, ranked here by what each one costs. The biggest single loss is blogging, at 6.2 of its 10 points. Longer bar, more points left on the table.

  • Publishes a blog 6.2 lost of 10
  • Page speed 5.6 lost of 15
  • Links a social profile 4.3 lost of 10
  • Mobile-friendly 3.1 lost of 15
  • Schema markup 2.8 lost of 10
  • Analytics installed 2.0 lost of 5
  • Meta description 0.8 lost of 5
  • Google reviews 0.7 lost of 15
  • HTTPS 0.5 lost of 10
  • Title tag 0.0 lost of 5

26 points of 100 left on the table. Track length is the check's weight, so a five-point check can never cost what a fifteen-point one does. Each check is averaged across the 24 markets, the same way the score itself is built, so these ten bars add back to the 74 above. The table at the foot of this section pools by sample size instead, which answers a different question and lands a little differently. Weights are on the methodology page.

Independents against the chains

I can tell a franchise or chain location from an independent, so here are both, on the checks where they split hardest. The widest gap is analytics: 53% of independents against 89% of chains.

  • Independents (1,464 sites)
  • Chains and franchises (189 sites)
  • Runs analytics 53% vs 89%
  • Publishes a blog 34% vs 67%
  • Links a social profile 52% vs 84%
  • Uses schema markup 69% vs 95%
  • Has an H1 74% vs 97%
  • Has sharing tags 69% vs 91%

Scale runs 0 to 100%. Only the checks where both groups were measured the same way are comparable, so speed and the meta checks sit this one out.

What these sites are built on

The platform behind each of the 1,653 homepages I audited, where I could identify one.

  • WordPress 45.8%
  • Wix 5.4%
  • GoDaddy 4.7%
  • Squarespace 2.6%
  • Webflow 1.3%
  • Weebly 1.0%

A platform was identified on 65% of audited sites. The rest are hand-built or run something the fingerprinting misses, and a site can match more than one, so these do not sum to 100%.

How I counted

Every rate above has its own denominator. This is where they come from, out of the 2,456 businesses in this trade in my listings census.

  1. Businesses sampled 2,293 100%
  2. Had a website 1,843 80%
  3. Homepage audited 1,653 72%
  4. Speed-tested 1,351 59%

Of the sites that never made it into the audit, 131 would not load, 54 blocked me, and 5 turned out to be a social profile rather than a website. 189 of the businesses sampled are chain or franchise locations. Full method on the methodology page.

Performance

No guessing how your plumbing website is performing

Every month you get a plain-English report showing exactly what was done on your site, how you are ranking for local and emergency plumbing searches, and how many calls and form submissions came in. You are on jobs all day. We track your site's performance so you always know it is working for you around the clock.

How Our Pricing Works

Why pay too much for your plumbers web designer?

Ask a plumbing web designer what a site costs and watch them reach for a calculator. Ours is $95 a month, all of it included, with nothing to pay upfront. The site belongs to you from the first month, so start generating emergency calls and service requests on day one and leave whenever you like.

Try to find another plumbers web designer at these prices. Go ahead, we'll wait.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions about plumbers web design

Everything you want to know about getting a website built for your plumbing business.

How do I get emergency plumbing calls from my website?

Make your emergency number impossible to miss with huge click-to-call buttons on mobile. When a pipe bursts at 3 AM, people call the first plumber whose number they can find. Make that you.

Should I show plumbing prices on my website?

Show starting prices or flat rates for common jobs. 'Service call $95,' 'Toilet repair starting at $150,' 'Water heater installation from $1,200.' Transparency wins over mystery pricing every time.

Do I need online scheduling for non-emergency plumbing?

Yes. Homeowners want to schedule routine services (inspections, installations, maintenance) at their convenience without phone tag. Online booking fills your schedule during non-emergency hours.

What builds trust on a plumber website?

Licensing numbers, insurance info, reviews, and photos of your actual work. Plumbing scams exist. Prove you're legitimate with credentials and customer testimonials prominently displayed.

Should I separate residential and commercial plumbing services?

Yes. Create separate pages. Homeowners and facility managers search differently and have different needs. Service-specific pages rank better and attract qualified leads for each audience.

How critical is mobile for plumber websites?

Absolutely critical. Plumbing emergencies happen at 3 AM and people call from phones. If your site takes forever to load or phone number isn't clickable, you've lost the emergency call.

How do I compete with big plumbing franchises?

Franchises have overhead and corporate pricing. You're owner-operated with competitive rates and personal service. Emphasize that the owner answers the phone. Accessible beats corporate.

Should I show plumber licensing and insurance?

Display license numbers and insurance prominently. Plumbing scams exist. Proving you're licensed, bonded, and insured builds immediate trust and separates you from unlicensed handymen.

Do I need a blog about plumbing maintenance?

Only if you'll write consistently. One helpful article per quarter about seasonal maintenance beats a dead blog. Better to create YouTube videos if you're not a writer.

How important is showing before/after plumbing photos?

Very important. Water heater installs, repiping jobs, bathroom renovations. Photos prove quality work and professionalism. Text descriptions don't show craftsmanship like actual completed work does.
